Ninja Town
Koka, in Shiga Prefecture, is a rural city known as one of the birthplaces of Japan’s ninja culture, alongside neighboring Iga. Its rugged terrain and proximity to Kyoto made it an ideal refuge for self-governing families, from whom the ninja originated during the 15th and 16th centuries. Koka also features the Miho Museum, renowned for its harmonious integration with the surrounding natural landscape.
