National Treasure

Aishō is home to two of the historic Kotō Sanzan temples: Kongōrin-ji and Saimyō-ji, both renowned for their cultural significance and stunning autumn foliage. Kongōrin-ji, founded in the 8th century, features a National Treasure main hall, a three-story pagoda, and gardens designated as a Place of Scenic Beauty. The temple is also noted for its thousands of Jizō statues lining the approach. Nearby, Saimyō-ji, established in 834, boasts Japan's first designated National Treasure main hall, a vibrant three-story pagoda with colorful interior paintings, and the unique sight of cherry blossoms blooming amidst autumn leaves. Both temples offer a serene atmosphere and a glimpse into Japan's rich Buddhist heritage. 6.7 km from the nearest station: Echigawa
