Panoramic Landscape

Perched on the slopes of Mt. Akagami in Higashiomi, Tarobogu Shrine—also known as Aga Shrine—is a 1,400-year-old sacred site revered as the "Shrine of Victory and Happiness." Visitors ascend 742 stone steps to reach the main hall, dramatically built into the cliffside, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. A highlight is the "Meoto Iwa" (Married Couple Rocks), a pair of massive stones with an 80 cm gap; legend says those pure of heart can pass through and have their wishes granted. The shrine also offers a unique experience of crafting personalized omamori (protective charms), allowing visitors to choose designs and colors that resonate with their aspirations.
