1000 Cherry Blossoms

Takada is renowned for its Senbonzakura—a breathtaking display of over 1,000 cherry trees lining a 2.5 km stretch along the Takada River, culminating at Onaka Park. Each spring, the area transforms into a tunnel of blossoms, with evening illuminations and food stalls enhancing the hanami experience. Nearby, Taima-dera stands as a significant Buddhist temple, notable for its twin three-story pagodas dating back to the Nara and early Heian periods. The temple houses the revered Taima Mandala, a visual representation of the Pure Land, and is associated with the legend of Princess Chūjō-hime.
