The Katsuragi City Sumo Museum, Kehaya-za, near Kintetsu Tomajishi Station, celebrates the legendary birthplace of sumo. Explore a full-size sumo ring, view exhibits with thousands of artifacts, and learn about the mythical founders of the sport. A free rest area welcomes hikers, and the nearby Kehaya Mound is believed to be the tomb of legendary sumo founder, Taima no Kehaya. Check out the sumo ballad performances on the first Sunday and second Thursday of each month.
