Mount Nijo, also known as Nijozan, is a mountain straddling the border between Nara and Osaka prefectures. Easily accessible from Nijo-san Station on the Kintetsu Minami Osaka Line, it offers several hiking trails suitable for beginners. The mountain features two peaks, Mount Odake and Mount Medake, with trails leading from various starting points, including Taima-dera Temple. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Nara from the summit of Mount Medake. The popular "Totoro Route," marked with Totoro figures, adds a whimsical touch to the hiking experience. The best time to visit is during the cherry blossom season in late March to early April.
