Art Forest

Nestled in the forested mountains of Uda, Murō-ji is a serene Shingon Buddhist temple founded in the 8th century. Known as the "Women's Kōyasan," it welcomed female worshippers when other temples did not, and features Japan’s smallest five-story pagoda, a National Treasure. Nearby, the Murō Art Forest is an open-air museum blending monumental sculptures with nature, designed by Dani Karavan. Also close is Ryūketsu Shrine, dedicated to the Dragon Deity of water, with a mystical cave and waterfall believed to be the dragon's dwelling.
