Sacred Water & Blossoms
Fukura, located in Yuza Town, Yamagata Prefecture, offers serene natural beauty and cultural charm. Maruike Pond, a spring-fed body of water at the base of Mount Chokai, is renowned for its crystal-clear waters that shimmer in emerald hues during summer and sapphire tones in winter. The pond is considered sacred and is part of the Mount Chokai Geopark. Nearby, Nakayama Kasen Park provides a picturesque setting for cherry blossom viewing in spring. The park features a promenade lined with approximately 60 somei yoshino cherry trees planted in 1958, set against the backdrop of Mount Chokai. Night-time illuminations of the blossoms offer an enchanting experience.
