Maruike-sama

Overview

Maruike-sama is a mystical pond located in Yuza, at the foot of Mount Chokai. Fed solely by the mountain's spring water, this small pond boasts stunning emerald green waters that change color depending on the weather and viewing angle. Revered by locals as a sacred site, the pond features a small shrine and is surrounded by a serene forest. It's an 8-minute drive from Fukiura Station, though the narrow path can be tricky. The best time to visit is in April before the foliage obscures the view. Nearby, you can also see the clear waters of the Ugawatari River and a salmon hatchery.
