Katsurahama Beach on Kurahashi Island, Kure, is a serene coastal spot renowned for its white sand, pine groves, and calm waters of the Seto Inland Sea. Recognized among Japan’s “100 Best White Sands and Green Pines,” the beach is steeped in history, with ties to the ancient Manyōshū poetry anthology. A large torii gate marks the entrance to Katsurahama Shrine, a hilltop sanctuary designated as a National Important Cultural Property. Visitors can also unwind at the nearby Katsurahama Onsenkan, which offers natural hot spring baths with sea views.
