Sword Smith Center
Osafune, located in Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture, is renowned for the Bizen Osafune Japanese Sword Museum, a rare institution dedicated to the art of Japanese sword-making. The museum showcases a collection of Bizen swords and offers visitors the unique opportunity to observe traditional sword-forging processes, including forging, engraving, and sharpening, in its on-site workshop. Special demonstrations, such as the forging of tamahagane steel, are held monthly, providing insight into this ancient craft. The museum is accessible via a short taxi ride from JR Osafune Station on the Ako Line.
