Bizen Fukuoka Local Museum

Overview

The Bizen Fukuoka Local Museum, housed in the former Hirai Hospital built in 1914, showcases the history of Bizen Fukuoka, once a prosperous area along the Sanyo Road. Exhibits include historical artifacts, old medical tools and books from the Hirai family, and everyday items. Don't miss the digital museum featuring the Ippen Shonin E-den (illustrated biography of Ippen). Outside, you can view a giant 5,000-year-old Zelkova tree discovered in the Yoshii River. The museum is about a 20-minute drive from Sanyo IC on the Sanyo Expressway, or a 15-minute walk from JR Osafune Station. Note that the museum has limited opening days, so check in advance.
