Wisteria Temple

Founded in 725 by Emperor Shōmu and consecrated by the monk Gyōki, Fujii-dera Temple is a significant Shingon Buddhist site located in Fujiidera City, Osaka. It is the fifth temple on the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage and is renowned for housing Japan's oldest known Thousand-Armed Kannon statue, a National Treasure crafted using dry lacquer technique, featuring 1,041 arms. The temple's name, meaning "Wisteria Temple," reflects its beautiful wisteria blossoms that bloom around April to May, attracting numerous visitors during the annual wisteria festival.
