Located atop Mount Karita in Miyagi Prefecture, the Zao Karita-mine Shrine (Okumiya) offers stunning panoramic views, including the iconic Okama crater. This historic shrine, accessible via a short walk from the Zao Highland Line terminus or the Miyako Bus "Zao Karita Sancho" bus stop, is a must-visit during the green season. The deity is enshrined here from the Zao mountain opening until the closing ceremony in late September, when it descends to the Satomiya shrine. Visitors can obtain unique Goshuin stamps and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the surrounding mountains. Be mindful of the steep path and slippery conditions when descending.
