Oyama Park, located in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture, is a scenic destination steeped in history. The park occupies the former site of Muto clan's Oura Castle. Known for its beautiful cherry blossoms and autumn foliage, the park offers stunning views of the Shonai Plain from the nearby Mt. Takadate observation deck. Visitors can enjoy the upper and lower ponds for fishing and boating. Don't miss the annual Oyama Dog Festival on June 5th, one of the three major festivals in the Shonai region. The park is a 20-minute walk from Uzen-Oyama Station or a 10-minute drive from Tsuruoka IC on the Yamagata Expressway. The best time to visit is during the cherry blossom season in spring or for the autumn colors.
