Wakaura Tenmangu Shrine, one of Japan's three major Tenmangu shrines, enshrines Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning. Located in Wakayama, it's known for its beautiful, colorful main hall (an Important Cultural Property) and offers stunning views of Wakaura Bay. The shrine is particularly popular during exam season for students seeking academic success. Don't miss the steep stone steps leading to the main hall and the calligraphy festival on August 20th. Open from 9:00 to 17:00, it's easily accessible by bus from JR Wakayama Station or Nankai Wakayamashi Station.
