Okihata Suiten-gu Shrine, also known as Suiten-gu-san, is a small, historic shrine nestled along the Horiwari canals of Yanagawa. Originally established in 1869, it enshrines three deities, including the spirit of Emperor Antoku, who perished in the Battle of Dan-no-ura. The shrine is revered as a protector of water, children, safe childbirth, and maritime activities. During its annual festival in May, a vibrant atmosphere fills the air with food stalls and a unique boat stage called 'Sanshinmaru'. Visitors can easily access the shrine during a stroll from the end of the Yanagawa river cruise or while exploring the Okihata district near Hakushu Kitahara's birthplace.
