Kakunodate's Weeping Cherry Trees, a designated natural monument, are a must-see in Kakunodate, Akita Prefecture. Located in the Bukeyashiki district, these stunning trees, some over 300 years old, create a picturesque scene, especially during the spring cherry blossom season. The best time to visit is in April when the weeping cherry trees are in full bloom, offering a beautiful contrast with the black walls of the samurai residences. Access is easy with a 15-minute walk from JR Kakunodate Station. While beautiful year-round, the cherry blossom season is truly spectacular.
