Yanaizu Onsen is a tranquil hot spring town nestled along the Tadami River, west of Aizuwakamatsu City. It developed as a gateway to Fukuman Kokuzo Bosatsu (Reigan-ji Enzoji Temple), one of Japan's three great Kokuzo Bodhisattvas. The hot spring water, drawn from within the temple grounds, is known as a sacred spring and is said to have healing properties. Don't miss the scenic Kangetsu Bridge over the Tadami River, where you can observe the natural monument of countless swimming ugui fish at "Uobuchi." Nearby, the beautiful Tang-style Muromachi architecture of Okunoin Bentendo Hall is designated as an important cultural property. The best time to visit is during the day to explore the temple and river area.
