Mizumegawa River

Overview

Mizumegawa River, located in Chino, Nagano Prefecture, is a pristine stream flowing near the Suwa Taisha Upper Shrine Maemiya. Revered as a sacred water source, it was historically used for purification before important Shinto rituals. Visitors can still see the clear waters and a designated area for cleansing hands. The river's source is a short distance into the mountains from Maemiya, and its serene atmosphere reflects the enduring traditions of the Suwa region.
