Hieda Shrine

Overview

Located next to Shuzenji Temple, Hieda Shrine is a serene spot featuring a towering Japanese nutmeg tree, designated as a prefectural natural monument. The shrine is also home to the "Kodakara no Sugi" (child-bearing cedar), an 800-year-old tree formed from conjoined roots. Visitors can explore the remains of Shinkoin, where Minamoto no Noriyori was once confined. Just a 3-minute walk from Shuzenji Onsen Station or a 10-minute bus ride from Shuzenji Station, the shrine offers a peaceful retreat with historical significance and natural beauty.
