Sampo-ji Temple, located in Tendo, Yamagata, is the family temple of the Tendo Oda clan, descendants of Oda Nobunaga. Originally designated as the Oda clan's family temple by the Tokugawa shogunate, the temple features the Kotoku-den hall, a reconstruction of the Oda family mausoleum that was initially lost in the Boshin War. Inside Kotoku-den are enshrined memorial tablets of Oda Nobunaga and successive lords of the Oda clan. While the temple grounds may seem like a typical Japanese temple, the Kotoku-den serves as a reminder of the area's connection to the Oda clan. The temple is about a 15-minute walk from JR Tendo Station, or accessible by bus to Go-ka-machi bus stop.
