Okunoin Cemetery, located on Mount Koya in Wakayama Prefecture, is a sacred and mystical site, easily accessible by bus from Koyasan Station. This spiritual area features a nearly 2-kilometer path from Ichinohashi Bridge to the Torodo Hall, lined with towering cedar trees and over 200,000 tombstones, including those of famous historical figures and feudal lords. The cemetery leads to the mausoleum of Kobo Daishi (Kukai), the founder of Shingon Buddhism, where it is believed he remains in eternal meditation. Visitors can witness the daily Shojingu ritual, where meals are offered to Kobo Daishi.
