The Shirakawa Christ Orthodox Church, built in 1915, is a rare example of Byzantine architecture in Japan. Located a short 5-minute walk from Shirakawa Station on the JR Tohoku Line, this charming church features an octagonal dome and white walls. Inside, you can find iconostasis (holy images) including oil paintings and lithographs by religious painter Rin Yamashita. Note that visits to the interior require a reservation. The exterior alone offers a glimpse into this unique cultural and historical landmark. It's a peaceful spot to appreciate architecture and art.
