Kameoka Monju is one of Japan's three major Monju temples, located in Takahata Town, Yamagata Prefecture. Founded in 807, it's known as a place to pray for academic success. Visitors climb a stone-paved path and stairs through a serene forest to reach the main hall. The temple also features the Rikonsui spring, said to grant wisdom. The best time to visit is in the spring or fall to avoid crowds and enjoy pleasant weather. The temple is accessible via a moderate climb, with parking available partway up the mountain.
