Aratate Shrine, located in Takachiho, is known as the place where Sarutahiko-no-Mikoto and Amenouzume-no-Mikoto, figures from Japanese mythology, were married. Legend says the shrine was hastily built using rough wood, hence its name. Visitors often come to pray for marital harmony, matchmaking, and success in the arts, as Amenouzume is revered as the goddess of entertainment. Don't miss the wooden plaques behind the main hall; it's said that striking one seven times will grant your wish. The shrine is a 15-minute walk from Takachiho Bus Center.
