Located within the Zenkoji Temple complex in Nagano, the Nippon Chureiden (Zenkoji Museum) is a unique site combining a war memorial and a museum. The three-story pagoda-style building enshrines over 2.4 million war dead from conflicts spanning from the Boshin War to World War II, and it's the only Buddhist memorial hall of its kind in Japan. The first floor houses the Zenkoji Museum, displaying treasures related to the temple, including prototypes of the Nio statues at the Niomon Gate and votive tablets. It's a quiet place to reflect and appreciate historical artifacts. The museum is accessible with the Zenkoji Temple main hall ticket.
