The Kotohira Grand Lantern, standing 27 meters tall, is Japan's highest lantern. Constructed in 1860, it served as a navigational aid for ships in the Seto Inland Sea, guiding them towards Konpira Shrine. The lantern features a wooden tower atop a stone base, with three interior levels showcasing Edo-era graffiti. Located near Kotoden Kotohira Station, it's an easily accessible landmark.
