The Kurobe Dam Observatory offers the most iconic views of the Kurobe Dam, Kurobe Lake, and the surrounding mountains. Located a climb of 220 steps from the Kurobe Dam Station, the observatory provides panoramic vistas and photo opportunities. Be prepared for a bit of a hike, but the stunning scenery is well worth the effort. The best time to visit is in the morning for optimal lighting, especially if you want to capture the powerful dam discharge, which typically occurs from late June to mid-October. Note that the stairs can be challenging for those with mobility issues or families with young children.
