Located 800m north of Seibu Shinjuku Honkawagoe Station in the 'Ichibangai' district, the Osawa House is the oldest of the remaining Kurazukuri (warehouse-style) buildings, dating back to 1792. This well-preserved building features a simple exterior with elegant interior designs, including a Sukiya-style room and a boxed staircase. Surviving the Great Fire of Kawagoe, it inspired the construction of many Kurazukuri houses in the Meiji era. Today, the first floor operates as a folk craft shop, offering visitors a glimpse into its historic architecture and cultural significance. Easily accessible by bus from Kawagoe Station, it's a must-see for those exploring Kawagoe's traditional streetscape.
