Kiyotsukyo Gorge, part of Joshin'etsu-Kogen National Park, is celebrated as one of Japan's three great gorges. The Kiyotsukyo Gorge Tunnel, renovated as the "Tunnel of Light" art installation, offers unique viewing points of the V-shaped gorge and its majestic columnar jointing. The tunnel features mirrored surfaces and water reflections, creating stunning panoramic views. Located in Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture, it's accessible by car from the Kanetsu Expressway or by bus from Echigo-Yuzawa Station. The entrance includes a cafe and foot bath for added enjoyment. Open from 8:30 AM, with last entry at 4:30 PM; check the official website for winter closure dates.
