Zuiganji Temple, founded by Date Masamune, features a magnificent main hall in the shoin-zukuri style with a striking single-layered, hipped-roof, and tiled roof. This temple houses numerous national treasures and important cultural properties, including the main hall, the kuri (kitchen), and the corridors. Located a 5-minute walk from Matsushima-Kaigan Station on the Senseki Line, and a 15-minute drive from Matsushima-Kaigan IC on the Sanriku Expressway, Zuiganji offers a glimpse into opulent Momoyama architecture. Don't miss the replicated, lavishly decorated screen paintings and the original screen paintings in the treasure hall, especially during special exhibitions.
