Located next to the Cherry Blossom Museum in Matsumae Park, the Matsumae Town Cherry Blossom Sample Garden is a living encyclopedia of cherry blossoms. Established in 1965, it features approximately 300 trees of about 100 different varieties, including both old and newly developed species. Designated as a Hokkaido Academic Natural Protection Area in 1973, the garden offers a unique opportunity to see a wide range of cherry blossoms in one place. The best time to visit is from late April to mid-May to see the various species in bloom.
