Kofuso is a historical site in Yugawara, known as one of the locations of the February 26th Incident. Formerly a detached annex of the Itoya Ryokan, it served as the residence of former Lord Keeper of the Privy Seal, Makino Nobuaki, during the incident. Visitors can explore the building, which has been reconstructed with the same layout as it was at the time (with a later addition of a second floor), and view exhibits including newspaper articles and artifacts related to the event. Knowledgeable volunteer guides offer detailed explanations of the incident and its significance. Kofuso is located near Manyo Park and Kogome no Yu hot spring. Open to the public on weekends, it offers a glimpse into a pivotal moment in Japanese history.
