The Abashiri Coast, facing the Sea of Okhotsk, offers stunning views and unique natural phenomena. Easily accessible via a short walk from Masuura Station, this sandy beach is known for its seasonal drift ice and the iconic Hat Rock (Kasa-iwa). During winter, witness the dramatic drift ice formations, while other times of the year reveal interesting geological features. The best views of the coastline, including Hat Rock, can be enjoyed from the Abashiri Drift Ice Roadside Station. Note that winter conditions can be harsh, so dress warmly. Depending on the time of the year, you can see the Shiretoko mountain range in the distance.
