Takagi Shrine, the main guardian shrine of Kumagaya, is a historic site dating back to the early Heian period. Dedicated to Taka-musubi-no-Mikoto, a deity of creation, it's known for blessings of matchmaking and safe childbirth. The shrine was rebuilt in 1671 by the Abe clan, lords of Oshi Castle. Key features include an 800-year-old zelkova tree, bronze lanterns designated as cultural properties, and the annual 'Tainai Kuguri' purification ritual in June and the Tori no Ichi festival in December. Located a 15-minute walk from Kumagaya Station, it offers a tranquil escape from the city. Visit during the day to fully appreciate the shrine's architecture and serene atmosphere.
