Explore the historic Kagoumorijō Ruins, built by Noritada Kawaharabuchi under the command of Kin'uji Saionji. Located in Matsuno Town, Kitauwa District, Ehime Prefecture, the ruins are a 10-minute walk from Matsumaru Station. These nationally designated historic sites date back to the Sengoku and Azuchi-Momoyama periods (circa 1376). Visitors can explore the remains of the castle, including its many baileys and earthworks, offering a glimpse into its strategic importance. The well-maintained paths and informative signs, some created by local elementary students, enhance the experience. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes for the sometimes steep and slippery trails. The site offers panoramic views of the surrounding basin.
