Oyakuen Garden, also known as the Aizu Matsudaira Family Garden, is a historic site with roots dating back to the Muromachi period. Originally a villa, it was later transformed into a medicinal herb garden by the Hoshina clan, who cultivated ginseng and other herbs to aid the local population. The garden features a serene landscape with ponds, waterfalls, and meticulously arranged stones, offering a tranquil escape. Notable structures include the Rakujutei teahouse, bearing sword marks from the Boshin War, and the Joyokaku pavilion. Located in Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima, it's easily accessible by bus from Aizuwakamatsu Station. Open daily, it's a perfect spot for a peaceful stroll and a glimpse into Aizu's history.
