The Akechidaira Observatory, accessible via a 3-minute ropeway ride from Akechidaira, offers arguably the best panoramic views in Nikko. From this vantage point, visitors can witness the majestic Lake Chuzenji, Kegon Falls, and Mount Nantai. The observatory also provides views of the Byobu-iwa cliffs and distant mountain ranges. A hiking trail extends from the observatory towards Lake Chuzenji, requiring proper trekking equipment. Note that the ropeway may be closed during inclement weather or for maintenance.
