Located within Nakatsu Castle Park, Nakatsu Shrine offers a serene escape with a touch of history. Established in 1883, it enshrines several local deities, making it a significant spiritual site for the community. While the shrine itself is relatively new compared to others in the area, it stands on the former site of the Matsu-no-Goten, a residence for returning noblewomen in the Edo period. The shrine is particularly vibrant during the Nakatsu Gion Festival in late July, featuring traditional floats and processions. Visitors can easily access the shrine from JR Nakatsu Station, though it's somewhat secluded within the park, near the parking area. Note that the grounds may appear less maintained than other shrines in the park. You can obtain the shrine's Goshuin (seal) at Nakatsu Daijingu.
