Honko-ji Temple, also known as the "Hydrangea Temple," is a charming destination located a 10-minute walk from Mikagane Station. Famous for its stunning display of hydrangeas, especially along the stone-paved path to the main gate, it offers picturesque scenery in a tranquil setting. The temple is also the family temple of the Fukamizo Matsudaira clan, featuring unique shrine-shaped tombstones in the Eastern Mausoleum, a designated national historic site. Visitors can explore the temple grounds, admire the seasonal flowers like plum blossoms and camellias, and try their luck at the wishing turtle. Open from 9 AM to 4 PM, with gosha-in stamps available for ¥500, it's best to visit during the hydrangea season in June.
