The Ijinkan (Tashiro Family Western-Style House) in Arita is a historical building that reflects the town's rich pottery trading past. Built in 1876 by Monzaemon Tashiro, who monopolized Arita ware exports, it served as accommodation for foreign merchants. While interior viewings are limited to special occasions like the Arita Pottery Market and Autumn Pottery Festival, the exterior's blend of Japanese and Western architectural styles is worth seeing. Located across from the Fukagawa Seiji main store, it offers a glimpse into the Meiji era with its unique design elements, including stained glass and tatami rooms. Note that the building's exterior is the primary attraction for most visitors.
