Experience the Kōso Kagura, a captivating traditional dance performed at Kōso Shrine during the spring (fourth Sunday of April) and autumn (fourth Saturday of October) grand festivals. Witness both 'Mai Kagura' (dance kagura with chanting) and 'Men Kagura' (masked kagura enacting mythological stories), featuring 12 distinct performances. The Kōso Kagura is said to have been brought to the region by Harada Tanechika, the lord of Kōso Castle in the Muromachi period, who learned 'Kyo no Noh Kagura' in Kyoto. The performances are free to attend. The shrine is located at Fukuoka Prefecture, Itoshima City, Kōso 1578, accessible by bus from JR Chikusenji Station.
