Kamiyoshii Residence (Former Site of the First Post Office)

Overview

The Kamiyoshii Residence, also known as the Former Site of the First Post Office, is located in the Takehara Preservation District. Established in 1874, the building served as the town's first post office for approximately 60 years. While the interior is not open to the public, visitors can see and use the black post box in front of the building, a replica of the original Meiji-era design. Situated near Saihou-ji Temple, it's a great spot to experience the historical atmosphere of Takehara. It is a 15-minute walk from JR Takehara Station.
