Higashiyama Hakusan Shrine, located in the Higashiyama Teramachi district of Takayama, Gifu Prefecture, is a historic Shinto shrine dating back to 718. Situated on a hill, it requires climbing a long set of stairs, passing by notable graves along the way. The shrine's main hall was constructed by the renowned craftsman Mizuno Sagami, who also built the three-storied pagoda of Hida Kokubun-ji Temple. The shrine is known for its annual spring festival, featuring a traditional Kagura stage and an octagonal portable shrine.
