Takakura Shrine, located in Ouchi-juku, enshrines Prince Takakura Mochihito (also known as Prince Mochihito), who raised an army against the Taira clan during the Heian period. Legend says he fled to this area after being defeated. The shrine is a short walk from the main street of Ouchi-juku, though the path to the main hall involves some walking. The first torii gate is located along the main street, but the main shrine is further away in a quieter, wooded area. The shrine holds the Hange Festival in summer. It's a peaceful spot to explore while visiting the historic post town.
