Taimen-ishi Rock is a historical site located in Kudoyama, Wakayama Prefecture, along the Sanada no Michi trail. According to local legend, this is the spot where Kobo Daishi (Kukai), the founder of Shingon Buddhism, either reunited with his mother or received a divine message from Benzaiten, a Buddhist goddess, advising him to enshrine her in Kudoyama. The stone is a simple yet significant landmark, marked with a sign explaining its history. It's easily accessible and offers a brief, contemplative stop while exploring the area's cultural heritage. The rock is located near Hensho-ji Temple, making it easy to combine both sites in one visit.
