Koyasan Reihokan Museum

Overview

The Koyasan Reihokan Museum, easily accessible by bus from Koyasan Station, manages and displays designated cultural properties (National Treasures, Important Cultural Properties, Prefectural Cultural Properties) from various temples, including Kongobuji Temple. The museum boasts an impressive collection of over 130 items and 18,652 pieces, including National Treasures like the Twenty-Five Bodhisattvas Descending, Nirvana Painting of Buddha, and Wooden Statue of Yagi-Doji. With rotating exhibits several times a year, visitors can always discover something new. Note that the main building is a wooden structure and designated as an important cultural property, so it may be cold during winter. The museum offers a profound experience with Buddhist art and artifacts.
