Sennin Byobu Iwa, or "Hermit's Folding Screen Rock," is a stunning natural rock formation located in the Takachiho Gorge in Miyazaki Prefecture. This dramatic cliff face features towering columnar jointing, formed from ancient lava flows from Mount Aso. The rock face rises approximately 70 meters high, resembling a folding screen. Visitors can view this natural monument along the Takachiho Gorge walking trail. The best time to visit is during the day to fully appreciate the scale and beauty of the rock formation. Note that parts of the trail may be closed due to typhoon damage.
