Located within the grounds of Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Yasugi, Shimane Prefecture, the Komyo-kaku Shoin Garden offers a serene escape with its expansive landscape. This meticulously designed garden, reminiscent of Kyoto's Kiyomizu-dera, features elements like a cascading waterfall and a uniquely shaped pond, all set against a backdrop of ancient cedar trees. The garden is particularly stunning during the cherry blossom season. Note that the Shoin building itself is currently not open to the public. Admission is ¥400 for junior high and high school students (with matcha) and ¥600 for adults (with matcha). Accessible by bus from Yasugi Station, it's a worthwhile detour when visiting the nearby Adachi Museum of Art.
